Lakers womens hockey team knocks off Mustangs in northeast womens hockey league

The Oswego Women’s Hockey Team (10-6-4, 7-4 Northeast Women’s Hockey League) won Wednesday with three unanswered goals in the third period, then Morrisville (10-10-1, 7-6-1 NEWHL) surpassed the score of 4-2.

Oswego increased their lead as the second seed in two matches against Potsdam, so the win was an important win in terms of THE NEWHL’s standings.

It was great on many different levels. First of all, it was a league game and a home game. It’s huge for the playoffs and playoffs sowing because we were trying to cause a two-point lead separatist, said Coach Diane Dillon of Oswego.

He also said that I think there are a lot of ties these days. It’s fun to beat girls and be confident. They came back and played a great third period. I certify that we do not have a letter of resignation. We are pleased with your efforts in the third period.

Juniors Philomena Teggart and Kate Randazzo scored goals and assists for the Lakers. Megan Teach out and Erin Stewart scored. GK Rachel Farmer stopped 16 shots.

The Lakers started quickly when The Randazzo scored 14:42 with the rest of the first period. The goal was a slap shot that pierced Morrisville State Lacey Freesen’s leg.

The Lakers’ defense zone remained strong until Morrisville tied the score at 2:26 in the second period when McKenzie Lombardi scored a goal by Farmer in the wrist.

Lombardi scored another goal to Mustangs to take a 2-1 lead. Morrisville took the lead in the third period.

The Lakers come out more aggressively in the third period, more control over the discs in their area and keep the Mustang away from their zone.

Teach out tied the score 2-2 at 8:01 in the third period and hit his wrist on Freisen’s left shoulder as he slipped through the length of the ice.

They made Morrisville filled up in their area and returned the shift on time. We really limited their zone time and it was huge, Dillon said. Further said that It’s a lot more fun to play with a disc than to chase a disc.

The last three meetings are all-conference games including home series with Buffalo, a load game with Canton.
