Indian opener KL Rahul became the seventh Indian batsman to complete 1000 runs in the T20I format. Rahul needed 26 before the first T20I against the West Indies.

The flamboyant is currently batting on 39 and heading towards a big score. India needs to chase a big score of 208 runs and Rahul will have to move in the same way.

Earlier, the Indian captain, Virat Kohli, won the toss and decided to bowl first. Shimron Hetimer scored his first half-century in the T20I format, while Evin Lewis hit a quick 40-run knock.

West Indies captain Kirron Pollard scored 37 runs off just 19 balls to add the finishing touch. Deepak Chahar hit an innings of 56 runs in his four-over quota.

Rahul would like to achieve a big milestone.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Shikhar Dhawan and Yuvraj Singh succeeded in achieving this feat and thus it is the best score ever for India.

The right-handed batsman scored 313 runs in eight matches at an average of 52.16 and a strike rate of 155.72.

Therefore, Rahul was instrumental in bringing Karnataka glory in the tournament. After this, Rahul would like to continue his current form internationally.

Apart from this, Rahul scored 598 runs in 11 matches of Vijay Hazare Trophy. The right-handed batsman scored at an average of 66.44 and a strike rate of 81.25. The stylish right-hander has scored six fifties and two centuries in the T20I edition.
