The University of Hawaii women’s basketball team continued to form a winning form against the Western Grand Conference with a convincing 68-44 victory to visit Long Beach State saturday night at Stan Sheriff Center.

Coach Laura said We’re going to have a hard stretch against two talented teams next week, but if we can play from this week to next week, we’ll be in a good place.”

Rainbow Wahine (11-10, 5-3) has won three games in a row and claimed his fifth win in his last six games against his conference opponents. The victory is the first time UH has exceeded the .500 mark since mid-December. Beach (10-11, 5-3) broke off their fourth straight win and hit the road in the next game in Calpoli on 8 February.

In the playoff atmosphere, both UH and LBSU increased defensive pressure in the first half. For the first 20 minutes, both teams struggled to handle the ball, The Arcs made 15 revolutions and the beach groped the ball 13 times.

Regardless of the rotation, the Home Squadron found a dart groove with seven out of 14 points from across the ark and took a 12-point lead from the center to 30-18.

The momentum continued to support green and white to start the third quarter, hitting three long-distance buckets with the first four possessions

Tago led all the scoring points with 19 points, scoring 10 or more points in eight consecutive games. His current tranche has spread further since he won double digits in nine of his last 11 tournaments.

Tago continues to work up to a list of three-pointers that fit while sitting no.4 overall at 124.

Junior forward Amy Atwell came out of the bench by 16 points and had 11 rebounds in his third double of the season. He played against the University of Washington from December 8 and scored the first double between UH and Atwell.

As a team, UH dominated the rebound fight with a 44-17 lead and the beach allowed only to pick up an offensive rebound and gave them zero second-chance points.
