Analysis: When the Mavericks lost Dwight Powell for the January 21 season with a rupture of the right Achilles tendon, they needed a great replacement and got one at Cauley-Stein.

Blazers acquire Ariza from Kings (January 18)

The Blazers get: Trevor Ariza, Caleb Swanigan, Wenyen Gabriel; Kings get: Kent Bazemore, Anthony Tolliver and two second-round picks (2024, 2025)

Analysis: Portland is cutting more than $ 12 million from its luxury tax bill, and Ariza could help defend the Blazers’ perimeter. The Kings now have overdue contracts at Bazemore and Tolliver and an open spot on the list for another potential move.

Timberwolves trade Teague with Atlanta (January 16)

The Falcons get: Jeff Teague, Treveon Graham; Timberwolves win: Allen Crabbe

Analysis: At Teague, who began his career in Atlanta, the Hawks receive quality support and assistance for the young owner, Trae Young. The Timberwolves are hoping that Crabbe, who is in the last season of his contract, will be able to help with outdoor shooting.

Cavaliers send Clarkson to Utah (December 24)
