The ODI, West Indies vs India in Visakhapatnam saw the first instance of both captains of the opposing team for the Golden Duck in the same ODI on Wednesday.

Virat Kohli was dismissed in the afternoon (0 runs off 1 ball at Visakhapatnam), while India was dismissed for 388 in 50 overs. Kieron Pollard took his opposition captain’s big wicket with a slow ball in his first over.

Six years after being dismissed for the Duck on the first ball at Dharamshala against England, Kohli went back on the first ball of his innings on Wednesday without disturbing the scorers.

Kohli achieved the Golden Duck for the first time in his ODI career during the North Sound ODI against the West Indies in 2011.

Later in the day, West Indies captain Kirron Pollard was also dismissed for 1 ball at the duck. Pollard was sent back by Mohammed Shami who accompanied the Ripper to the West Indies pegs.

Notably, Shami had taken a fine wicket of Nicholas Pooran (75 for 47) on the previous ball and broke a dangerous stance between the left-handed batsman and Shai Hope.

Earlier in the day, Virat Kohli managed to post a total score of 387 for 5, despite being dismissed with 0. Rohit Sharma, while Rohit Sharma missed his fourth ODI double century. KL Rahul scored 102 runs.

Shreyas Iyer scored 53 runs in 32 balls, while Rishabh Pant scored 39 runs in just 16 balls to take India beyond 350.

In response, the West Indies had good contributions from She Hope and Nicholas Pooran, but a historic hat-trick from Kuldeep Yadav and back-to-back strikes from Mohammed Shami conceded defeat.

India levelled the series with a victory of 107 runs. The series will be played in Cuttack on Sunday, 22 December.
