NBA trade rumors: DeMar DeRozan informed that he will not be traded by spurs

The 2020 NBA deadline has seen some teams take some steps on the list at this time and in the future.

But for the San Antonio Spurs, it was quiet as usual. To the surprise of anyone, Spurs did not make a step by the deadline. The last time the team did so was in 2014 in a deal with Detroit for Austin Daye in exchange for Nando de Colo.

In filthy games, this season DeRozan is averaging 23.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.2 assists and steals for 34.3 minutes per game while shooting 53.7 percent from the ground, 27.6 percent from 3-point range and 84.1 percent from the free-throw line.

The Spurs acquired 30-year-old Kawhi Leonard in a trade with the Toronto Raptors in the summer of 2018.

During his first season in San Antonio, DeRozan appeared in 77 contests, recording 21.1 points, 6.2 assists, 6.0 boards and 1.1 steals through 34.9 minutes per night, making 48.1 percent of his field-goal attempts, 15.6 percent of his attempts 83 percent of his dirty shots.

DeMar DeRozan will not leave the San Antonio Spurs and will remain with the team until the end of the season.

According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, the Spurs told DeRozan that he would not negotiate and would remain in San Antonio.

DeRozan who played his basketball at the University of Southern California was originally selected by the Raptors with the ninth overall pick of the 2009 NBA Draft.

He spent the first nine seasons of his career in Toronto, making four All-Star appearances and recording more than 20 points per game in each of his last five years at the club. He scored 27.3 points per game in 2016-17.

Certainly, for the fact that he can be a great scorer like DeRozan, his lack of perimeter jumpers and his defensive shortcomings have prevented him from reaching a truly elite level.

DeMar DeRozan has a player option of $27.7 million for the 2020-21 campaign. If you decide to register, there seems to be a good chance that Spurs will make you available in this summer’s trade negotiations.

San Antonio is in danger of missing the playoffs this season, so the push could be in store.
