Total Win Count for College Football’s Top Five Teams

One prop which is always on the board in preseason is the season win totals for all 131 FBS teams. The idea is that you can predict Over or Under the total number of wins as laid out by the sportsbooks. In this article we want to take a look at those numbers and perhaps provide some insight.

  1. Alabama Crimson Tide – The Crimson Tide were announced as the preseason number one team earlier this month. The total wins for this team is 11.5, the highest on the board. This means that if they lose just one game then the under wins. When you look at their schedule you can see why they may very well go undefeated. The toughest games they have is on the road against a weak Texas team and at home vs Auburn. The over is probably the smart play here.
  2. Ohio State Buckeyes – Their win total is set at 10.5 games at sports betting news websites. Again, this could be a team which also goes undefeated. Their toughest games are vs. Wisconsin and at Penn State. These are games where OSU will be favored by at least a TD. Over 10.5 games seems like a solid play.
  3. Georgia Bulldogs – The defending national champs are set to try and repeat. They are also assigned a win total of 10.5 games. Georgia lost a boatload of defensive players. There will probably be in a bit of a “defending champ slump”. Their schedule is not that tough but we can see them dropping two games to the likes of teams which they will be favored, such as Missouri and Tennessee. Take the under 10.5 games.
  4. Clemson Tigers – Clemson was the team to beat for several years. They just reload every year it seems.  But the QB situation in Death Valley has been the problem. This year will see former five star recruit QB DJ Uiagalelei try to live up to his hype. We think he will be able to manage the game well enough to win at least 11 games this year. Their schedule is weak which always helps. Take the over.
  5. Notre Dame Fighting Irish – It’s strange that this team is ranked number 5 in the land when they have a very uncertain situation at QB. Two players will be battling to be the #1 signal-caller. Not only that, but head coach Brian Kelly left for LSU. You don’t leave when things are great. You leave when things are turning bad. The total is 9.5 games but Notre Dame will lose three ball games. Take the under.
